At Cabertel we still firmly believe that the desk phone has an important role to play in the every day world of business communcations. That is why we offer a selection of IP phones for sale that come pre-configured for our services making self installation a breeze. We ship the phones directly to you and you simply plug them in and away you go!
We also offer an Analog Telephone Adapter (ATA) option for those that may want to use their existing analog phones. Again we ship these devices pre-configured, simply plug them in to get started. If you are interested in headsets to use with your IP phones then check out our VoIP Headsets page.
We have performed compliance testing and validated multiple IP phones and devices from various manufacturers for compatibility with our phone system. Based on our testing, as well as cost, build quality, ease of use, and features, we hand picked a selection of recommended devices for our customers which we present in this page.
If there are specific IP phones that you are interested in or currently have then please contact us directly to check compatibility with our system.
The IP phones we offer come in three (3) different connection types, which are wired, WiFi, and DECT cordless. So the first selection criteria should be based on your Internet connections available in your work place. For example, you may have Ethernet drops at every desk which would mean the wired type of phones would be the obvious choice. If you only have WiFi coverage in your office then a WiFi based phone solution or a DECT cordless solution would be the best options. If you only have a wired Internet connection in one area of the work place then a DECT cordless system is likley your best option. It may also be that you need a mixture of these types, which is absolutely fine.
Once you have selected the types of IP phones you need for your work space then cost generally is the next driving factor. For desk phones this means features like the phone display and number of programmable buttons needed. A phone with a larger display, or color display, or touch screen are generally higher in cost. These phones then generally have more available buttons that can be programmed with BLF (Busy Lamp Field), speed dials etc. Programmable buttons can be useful for a receptionist type role where calls are routed to a specific phone/person and then that person routes the call to the appropriate employee. Again, a mixture of models may make sense, where a more expensive phone is required for certain employees and the lowest end phone for those that don't need the extra buttons/features or for use in common areas.
As a general note, it is not really the case that more expensive phones sound better. We use the same internal setups for each of the phones when using our services. Each phone may sound slightly different but not like when choosing an audio system. They all have digital audio quality, better than any analog phone or cell phone audio!
The last few items that are worth being aware of are the phones compatibility for accessories (such as adding WiFi or Bluetooth functionality) and whether the Ethernet ports are 10/100M or Gigabit ports. This becomes more important if you are using the built-in switch (which all the IP phones have) for passing Internet through to a computer device. The built-in switch means you only need one Ethernet cable drop to your work area, with the Ethernet cable coming into your phone, then another Ethernet cable going from your phone to your computer. This helps to reduce the number of cables required.
